    Hi Sharon,

TVP is short fort Textured Vegetable Protein. You can usually find it in the health food section of your local grocery store, or sometimes in the bulk section. The brand I use is Bob’s Red Mill.

    Hope this helps.

I saw that you mentioned your daughter was going on a ketogenic diet. I am trying to help a friend prepare ketogenic meals for her daughter who has 200 + seizures a day. This would be easy enough, except they are vegan and all I find is meat recipes. Are the meat substitutes acceptable on a ketogenic diet? I wish I knew more about it, and I don’t want to trouble her cause she has enough on her plate. I was hoping you could give me some insight? Thanks!

Being vegan on the Ketogenic diet if at all possible would make it an extreme challenge. As a lot of vegan foods do not have the fats that are needed aside from vegetable based oils which are not quite palatable. Below is a link to a very good meal planner for the ketogenic diet which does all the calculations for you and includes alot of different foods.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi there,

I just posted a comment over on the bottom of a recipe for the ciabatta read., which looks great * I need to get off the net RIGHT NOW and get it started. However, I just wanted to suggest a recipe for you — or rather a fairly standard one with many vegetarians, which I actually love- Spinach-Rice casserole: wanted to see what kind of creative magic you could work on this
to get it to taste “budget-oriented -gourmet” and if you would n;t mind posting it when you’re done. If you prefer I can e-,mail the recipe I often use, but I was kind of hoping you’d already have a recipe for this lovely dish of your own!

I really like your recipes so far
    Thanks heaps,,
    Nina S.
