Yes this is not my normal style of recipe but I do have a daughter with severe feeding and weight gain issues and I do spend a lot of time experimenting with foods that both taste good, and are calorie packed for her. So I am now going to share a couple of baby food recipes that work wonders for her and hope they can help some other parents dealing with the same struggles. Anyways I think this will become a regular part of the blog and I will also soon be including recipes for the Ketogenic diet which my daughter be starting on soon. I Hope this helps some other toddlers out their and feel free to post a comment.
Yogurt Giveaway
Posted by Cmac in Baby Food, Other Stuff on October 8, 2009
I’ve recently been sent some Yoplait Trix – watermelon burst, and strawberry punch yogurt to try out, so my daughter and I each had a cup of it. My daughter seemed to like it and I didn’t mind it a bit. The texture was creamier then most baby yogurts and didn’t fall off the spoon which is a major plus for me when I’m feeding her. They also now make Yoplait less sugar yogurt for those concerned about their child’s sugar intake. Its nice to see companies cutting down the sugar in kids foods for once since sugar has always been an easy and cheap way to raise the calorie count on the labels.
Yoplait not only sent me a coupon for the free 6 pack of yogurt but it came with a nice little cooler, a place mat with games on it, 2 spoons, and a tangle toy. They have also been nice enough to give me two extra packages to give away to my readers.
How this giveaway works: Just leave a comment on this post and on October 31st I will draw a random number using Random.org then I will email the winners to find out mailing information.
Disclaimer: You must be a U.S. resident, and this coupon offer for a free six pack of Yoplait Kids yogurt is not valid in some states, including Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota and Tennessee
That’s about it, now get posting your comments.
High calorie Low cost baby yogurt
Being a father with a child who has growth and feeding issues I have been trying to find the perfect blend of baby safe foods that will help with calorie intake, digestion, and regularity, and of course taste good to my daughter. Below are two recipes your child will love.
Fruit yogurt (identical in taste and calories to a baby yogurt you can find in your local grocery store for less than half the cost.)
4 oz minus 1 TBL whole milk yogurt
1 TBL pureed mixed fruit unsweetened (I’ve had the best luck with half blueberry half peach)
3 tsp granulated sugar
You can make up the fruit in larger batches then whatever you don’t use to fill your yogurt cups just freeze. I prefer to steam the fruit in spring water then use some of the liquid from the bottom of the steamer to mix back into the fruit while blending so it is not to thick.
Now you will need some small Tupperware containers best if there round and have a somewhat flat bottom for mixing the fruit into the yogurt later.
Drop 1 TBL of your pureed fruit into the bottom of the Tupperware then add 3 tsp of sugar. Mix the sugar and fruit in the bottom of the Tupperware. Now top the fruit with the premeasured yogurt. Cap and refrigerate until ready to use. Before serving mix the yogurt so the fruit is dispersed evenly but be sure not to mix the fruit with the yogurt to soon before serving as it will cause the yogurt to almost liquify over time.

Yam Yogurt (great for babies with digestion, constipation and growth issues, and tastes great.)
2 oz whole milk yogurt
2 oz Yam pureed with prune juice used to slightly thin while pureeing
1 tsp granulated sugar
Drop 2 oz of the pureed yam into the bottom of the tupperware, then mix in 1 tsp of sugar. Top with the premeasured yogurt, cap and refrigerate until ready to use. Again do not mix the yam and yogurt until ready to serve.
